Virtual mapping is advantageous to understanding the geography of a place prior to physically visiting the space. Using Google satellite, I am able navigate Brooklyn along the L subway line. By zooming in, the physicality of the buildings becomes visible. As the L travels deeper into Brooklyn, the buildings less congested. For example, In Williamsburg there is not much space in between buildings and greenery in contrast to Bushwick which is more spatious and has more greenery (trees, parks, etc.). Also, Williamsburgs contains more old factory like buildings that probably have been refurbished to upscale apartments/condos. There are less buildings but they buildings are taller and take up more area. The other areas beyond Williamsburg contain more buildings and residential homes that take up less area per building and are shorter in height. Parks, sports feilds and playgrounds scatter along the L. Bushwick holds a large area of green land that stands as a cemetary and various parks. At the end of the L, residential buildings fill up the blocks. The L starts off with a city-like feel and transforms into a neighborhood like feel.
